JOE K.

Joe K. Joe M. and myself arrived at camp late Thursday evening to cloudy skies, followed by severe thunder storms, and heavy rain. It was not a good start to our weekend.
Expectation were not running high when we woke up to high and murky waters for our trout fishing weekend.
We took a ride early Friday morning to find our favorite streams to be unfishable.
We ended up fishing below a flood control dam that has a fairly stable water flow.
The trout fishing was slow, but I did manage to catch a limit.
Surprisingly, the next morning, our favorite steams were running high but clearing.
Fishing picked up as the weekend progressed and it turned out to be a great weekend with friends, fish and food.

FISHING DECK

Joe K. and I were fishing the river when we saw this ultimate deck for the fishing enthusiast.
It had 2 levels, BarBQ grill, lounge chairs, picnic table, rod holders, and it was protected from the elements.

FISHIN THE RIVER

The Allegheny was running high and murky most of the weekend. It did start to clear late Saturday and we managed to pull out a few fish.
I took this pic at a distance as Joe M. was fishing a promising pool of slack water.

ANOTHER BOW

We ran in to a good friend of mine John A. , his son J.R., and nephew Jason, and decided to fish together on Sunday morning. I apologize to J.R. and Jason for not getting their pics in my blog, but their pics were out of focus.
Here John is landing a decent Rainbow.
It's is kind of funny that the majority of their fish were Rainbows, and the majority of our fish were Browns. It pays to carry various baits, and know how to present it to the different species of trout.

The Cousin Trout Fishing Outing has begun!

NICE FISH JACK

My cousin Jackie is fairly new to the sport of trout fishing. This is the second time he has joined us for our annual Spring fishing trip, and he did a good job, getting his limit.
Here he is landing a beautiful Brown Trout.

SUCCESS !!!

Fishing was excellent everyday spent at camp. The fish would hit like gangbusters in the early morning, but taper off as the day progressed.
Fish were caught by all.

TIME TO REST AND B.S.

Ray M. Chuck G, Jackie G, and myself, along with Tom G. (the photog) relaxed in the afternoon shade. The weather was beautiful for the majority of our time spent at camp.
It's great when we get together and reminisce, telling and hearing stories about the past and present
A truly enjoyable outing!

NICE FISH BUTCH W. CONGRATS!!!!

Before I arrived, Butch landed these 2 beauties on the Allegheny on consecutive casts.
NICE FISH!!!!!!!!!

Doug took this pic of this trophy Brook trout waiting to be caught (which it never was)
The 1st night upon my arrival, I always have a wing-nite. Butch W. helps me out as we cook up around 10 doz.
It looks like that we only eat the 1st week of trout season, but I was remiss bringing my camera while fishing during the week.

KINZUA CREEK FISHING

Upon arriving at out fishing destination, Jim and I spotted 3 bear. If you look real close to the left of the big tree in the center of the pic, you can make out 1 of them.
Jim and I spent 1 morning fishing Kinzua Cr. The fishing was the best of the week, but nothing very big.

TURKEY FRY

When Jim is in the process of cleaning fish, it is necessary to replenish his liquid intake.
I haven't fried a turkey at camp for a while and decided it was time. Doug suggested that we brine the turkey 1st. I have heard of brining, but never gave it a try. It was delicious. Doug used Soy Sauce, Sea Salt, and a variety of spices, and soaked the bird for 36 hours.
It came out great. The Soy Sauce turned the skin a deep brown that was absolutely delicious.
During the carving, we were all nibbling at the skin.

FUN AT THE FILLET TABLE

Tom K. Jim F. and Doug A.
This pic was taken right before Doug beat the crap out of these 2.
Just kidding, I just thought this pic was humorous.

WOW!!!

Jim F. always cooks breakfast for us during the 1st week of trout season. There was 6 of us at camp for the 1st week and this is 1 of his creations. A 12 egg cheese omelet cooked to perfection.

FISH FRY

Fish Fry Friday is a tradition at our camp since Doug and I owned the place. We invite friends and neighbors to enjoy enjoy the freshly caught catch of the week. This year we went through 70 fillets.

LAST FIRE OF THE WEEK

Tom K. Doug A. and Jim F. enjoy our last fire for the week.

WARMING UP?

Bob, Judy(whats her name?), Gloria, Bob W. and Jim huddling around the fire trying to keep warm.
Normally, we build a larger fire for the last day of out stay, but there was a limited amount of plastic chairs to burn.

TALLY BOARD

This is a tally of our larger, or odder fish, caught during the 1st week of Trout Season.
As you can see, not 1 of our better years.
