COW ELK

Doug A. was fortunate to be working in the area in late June and decided to take advantage of a long weekend. He and 2 of our camp friends headed to camp for some relaxation, fishing and site seeing. It looks like that their goal was accomplished. The weekend started off great with sightings of a few members of the Pa. Elk herd.
Fishing was great and the relaxation came easy.

NICE LIMIT OF TROUT

Doug creeled a nice limit of trout while fishing the Allegheny River. None were under 14 in. with the largest being an 18 in. Tiger trout.
The Tiger Trout in a hybrid cross of a Brown and Brook Trout. The Fish Commish stocks very few of these, and this 1 is a real trophy.

LAST YEARS CARRYOVER

When you fillet a fish and the flesh is the color of a very ripe peach, you can be sure its a carry over from last years stocking. The fish fillet is firmer and , in my mind, tastier.
From what I hear, many of the trout that were bagged during their trip were carry overs.

CHOW TIME

Looks like the boys ate very well during their stay.

GREAT TROUT FISHING WEEKEND

3 of us decided to go to camp this weekend and try a little trout fishing.
Trout fishing has been rather disappointing so far this year due to high and muddy water conditions in the northern tier of Pa.
This all changed for the weekend.
The water conditions were the best of the season. Trout fishing was phenomenal !!!
No matter where we fished, the trout were very cooperative. Everything was perfect.

JOE K.

When we keep fish, we try to get them processed soon as possible.
They go from the creek, to the fillet station, and into the freezer.
It sure makes a difference at our fish fries.

JOE M.

GOT-EM

WE HAVE AN ESCORT

The Potato Creek Trail System parallels a stretch that we fish quite often.
While returning to our vehicle, we were escorted by these 3 ducks looking for handouts.
They were delicious!!!!!!! Yum Yum

(just kidding)

NICE BROOK TROUT

Another E. Branch Brookie

E. BRANCH OF THE CLARION

On the way home, we stopped at the E. Branch of the Clarion for 1 last fish.
Upon our arrival, at Bendigo State Park, we were surprised to see that the small weir dam had been removed, as you can see in the pic.
It sure did not effect the fishing though!!
A perfect ending for a perfect weekend.
Catch and release was the standard.

FISH ON !!

When the weather cooperated, during the week, we did manage to do pretty well.
Here is Cuz Chuck landing a chunky Brown Trout.

IT WAS A LITTLE WET OUT THERE

The weather has not cooperated since before the opening day of Trout Season here in Pa.
Cold and heavy rains have been has been the standard . Not really conducive for good trout fishing.
The cousin trip was no different. We caught our share of fish , but we had to fish in a limited areas, towards the upper reaches of the streams.
I think Cuz Chuck was wondering why we were at this section of the creek!

POLISH PLATTER

Fishing was fair but the eating was great.
Tom G. is dishing out our Polish platter of Pieroghis, Haluski, and a Kielbasi concoction to Jack G.
