WHO: Joe M. and Myself
WHAT: Completion of Camp Siding Project

(Click on pics to enlarge)

FRONT DOOR ENTRANCE

Joe M. and I finished up the finer details of the camp siding project.
We were painters, carpenters, landscapers, tree trimmers, house cleaners, and auto detailers.
We painted the windows, doors, skirting, and well house. Replaced rotted window seals. Trimmed the rhododendron. Lopped off some low hanging branches on the apple tree. Gave the camp a thorough cleaning inside and out.
AND DID A EMERGENCY CLEAN UP OF JOES TRUCK!!!!!!
It was a very productive weekend.
Here are a few before and after shots of what has been accomplished in the last few weeks.

WHO: Jim F. and myself
WHAT: Siding Installation and Heat Exhaustion Avoidance

THE FINAL PIECES

The siding installation at camp is finally completed. Jim F. had a good jump on the job before I arrived on Tuesday. The temperatures were atrocious during the day, and not much better at night. We would start early in the morning, taking a long break during the afternoon hours, and work to almost dark in the evening.
There are many smaller jobs that need to be done, but it's nice to have this task out of the way.

OBSERVATION DOMES

After Jim and I finished putting up the siding in unbearable temperatures, we decided to take a random ride through the mountains. The A.C. in the vehicle felt great. We traveled approx. 80 miles on gravel and winding paved roads.
During our journey, we passed through Cherry Springs State park, Patterson State Park, Prouty State Park, and Sizerville State Park. (maybe we traveled longer than 80 miles)
Cherry Springs State park was the most interesting. It is in a very remote location and is known for it's dark skies, making it a haven for astronomers.

PORTABLE OBSERVATION ENCLOSURES

TOMB ?

As we left the very small village of Gardeau, Jim and I spied this old tomb standing by itself along the road way. It had no markings except for someones name, and year.
It seemed to be some what maintained.

CAMP IMPROVEMENT

WHO: Spiering Construction and myself
What: Installation of new windows and insulation

Doug and I have owned the camp since 1998. We have the interior of the place looking good, but have not done much with the exterior. We both decided it was time to spruce the place up.
New windows and much needed insulation are the 1st step in this endeavor.
This past week, Spiering construction got us off to a good start.
The nest phase is installation of vinyl siding. Jim F. and I are planning on completing this task next week.

This blog is very picture heavy. It shows what we started out with, and what we have accomplished so far.
